The 2000 Brown & Black Presidential Forum is the nation's only minority presidential forum. This nationally televised event was a forum in which both democratic candidates had the opportunity to answer important questions concerning issues that affect African-Americans and Hispanic-Americans.
Both democratic presidential candidates, Vice President Al Gore and former US Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ) participated in the 5th Iowa Brown & Black Democratic Presidential Forum which was held in Des Moines, Iowa at North High School on Monday, January 17th, 2000. This event was nationally televised on cable network MSNBC, broadcast in Des Moines on cable channel 4 and rebroadcast throughout Iowa on Iowa Public Television. The event was also covered by hip hop culture's premiere publication, The Source, and broadcast worldwide on the Internet.
The Iowa Democratic Party helped tremendously in getting the 2000 Iowa Brown and Black Forum off the ground. Without their assistance this forum could not have been possible. We would like to give special thanks to the party's State Chair, Rob Tully, Communications Director, Shannon Tesdahl and their staff.
